Monte Carlo  Day Report

This was one of  the most fun days I've experienced in recent years. Six teenage guys helped me take apart my parts car. I thank each of the guys, but I'm going to leave their names off, because I know many parents are uncomfortable about having their kids named on the Internet Hey guys, I really appreciate your help, and  we'll do it again soon!

This is what we started with. This picture is a couple months old, but minus the hood this is what it looked like in the morning. I started it up and  drove it to the location where we did the work.

The crew has gathered and is learning the plan. One of them told me he had never taken anything off a car before. By the end of the day he will no longer be able to say that.

I explained  what parts I wanted to keep, and how I intended to use them, and then how I thought we would approach the project.

In the foreground  is a table with goodies...

It didn't  take long before we had the front sheet metal free, and sitting in the yard. Sure a lot more pleasant than doing this with two guys...

With the front off, we did a little more looking, and then unbolted the body.

Lifting  the front. We had a little trouble with the emergency brake cable.

Block the  front, and move the cherry picker to the rear. With the rear up, we rolled the frame out from under the car.

It only took a couple hours longer than that sounds...

A  little jockeying around, and the body and frame are side by side, instead  of one on top the other. The motor is two bolts short of being ready to  lift out, but I didn't have any place ready for it, so it stayed in the  frame.
